Description
Begin your hike in Ye and ascend to the crater of La Corona volcano, passing vineyards and extensive lava flows called “malpais” with large basalt blocks reaching the coast. The hike covers approximately 9 kilometers.
After the crater visit, walk around La Corona's east face to observe the 7.6 km lava tunnel, part of which extends 1.6 km beneath the sea due to lower sea levels during the last ice age.
Continue along the Famara Cliffs’ highest section, a rock wall over 500 meters high stretching 22 km along the northwest coast, offering views of the Chinijo Archipelago islets to the north.
Nearby, visit Peñas del Chache, Lanzarote’s highest point at 670 meters. The elevation and trade winds support a rich diversity of flora and birdlife in this natural area.
